Who we are

C.N.R.E.E. Association is an authorized producer responsibility organization (PRO) for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), operating since 2020. Through contract, we fully assume the legal environmental obligations of EEE producers and importers and fulfill them nationwide — so you can focus on your business, not on environmental legislation.

Extended producer responsibility stems from Directive 2012/19/EU (WEEE) and the legislation transposing it — GEO no. 5/2015, as currently amended by Law no. 127/2024. We turn this obligation into a predictable, controlled and fully traceable service.

What we do

Under the producer responsibility transfer contract, we ensure for our affiliated producers:

• achievement of annual WEEE collection and recovery targets, for each authorized category — responsibility for the rates is ours, not yours;
• a nationwide network of high-quality collection services, accessible to companies, institutions and individuals;
• treatment and recovery exclusively through authorized, WEEELABEX-audited operators (SR EN standards, MEWF Order no. 417/2021);
• reporting on your behalf to ANMAP and AFM — on time, fully compliant;
• free advisory services on environmental obligations throughout the contract.

Authorization regime

As of 1 January 2025, Law no. 127/2024 (which approves and amends GEO no. 5/2015) has significantly raised the threshold for entering and remaining on the market for PROs. C.N.R.E.E. operates fully within this framework:

• Market share ≥ 5% — maintained every year for at least one authorized EEE category, certified by AFM.
• Provisions for full management — we guarantee the management of 100% of the EEE financed by the producers we represent, regardless of when it becomes waste.

The law also governs how funds are spent: no more than 10% for system operation and development, no more than 5% for studies and awareness, no more than 15% for organizational operation. In practice, at least 70% of resources go directly into the collection, treatment and recovery of WEEE — exactly the service you pay us for.
