HaiDEEE să reciclăm! – CNREE campaign in Maramureș, a real success: 25,000 kg of WEEE collected in just one month

Centrul Național de Reciclare Electrice și Electronice (CNREE) announces the successful completion of the campaign „HaiDEEE să reciclăm! – O inițiativă pentru un Maramureș mai curat”, held during the period September 10 – October 10, 2025, in collaboration with the Association of Romanian Communes – Maramureș Branch (ACoR Maramureș), local authorities, educational institutions and communities in the county.

The initiative had as its main objective promoting the correct and responsible collection of electrical and electronic waste (WEEE) and encouraging the active involvement of citizens in protecting the environment.

Within just one month, the campaign recorded significant results, managing to collect over 25,000 kg of used electrical and electronic equipment from households, public institutions and educational institutions in Maramureș County.

La acțiune au luat parte 36 localities and 20 schools and kindergartenstook part in the action, confirming the increased interest of communities in protecting the environment and engaging in civic responsibility projects.

During the „Pe locuri, fiți gata, DEEE!” campaign, students and preschoolers collected used appliances from home and their communities, but also stood out with the most creative and expressive thematic drawings and essays, transforming recycling into an educational and responsible activity. The involvement of schools confirms once again that ecological education, started from the youngest ages, has a significant impact on the behavior of future generations.

In recognition of their involvement, CNREE offered prizes to over 1,000 preschoolers and studentsșcolari și elevi participating in the campaign.

"The results of this edition demonstrate that people are increasingly aware of the importance of recycling and are willing to get actively involved when offered accessible solutions. We thank everyone who participated - the locals, the authorities and especially the children and teachers, whose involvement made a difference," said Daniela Pop, representative of CNREE.

In turn, Mr. Emilian-Gheorghe Pop, president of ACoR Maramureș, stressed the importance of involving local communities in achieving European objectives regarding the collection and recycling of electrical waste: "Educating and stimulating the population towards selective collection are essential to achieve the targets assumed by Romania at the European Union level. The active involvement of local communities in such campaigns not only has a beneficial effect on the environment, but also develops responsible and conscious behavior among citizens. A joint effort and constant collaboration between authorities, organizations and citizens is needed to have a real impact."

CNREE would like to express its special thanks to the president of ACoR Maramureș, Mr. Emilian-Gheorghe Pop, as well as to all the local volunteers involved in the smooth running of the campaign. Their support and involvement significantly contributed to the success of the project and the mobilization of the communities in the county.

HaiDEEE să reciclăm! – An initiative for a cleaner Maramureș

The National Center for Electrical and Electronic Recycling (CNREE), in partnership with the Association of Romanian Municipalities – Maramureș Branch (ACoR Maramureș), launches the campaign „HaiDEEE să reciclăm!”, a civic responsibility project dedicated to the collection and recycling of electrical and electronic waste. The initiative aims to protect the environment by actively involving local communities and raising awareness about the importance of recycling.

A chance for a sustainable future

During September 10 – October 10, 2025, residents of Maramureș County will be able to hand over old or defective electrical and electronic equipment at the arranged collection points. Citizens who hand over a quantity of electrical and electronic waste of at least 30 kg cumulatively will be rewarded with attractive prizes: a percussion drill (drill) or an angle grinder.

"Responsible management of electrical and electronic waste is an effort that we must make together. Through this campaign, we offer citizens the opportunity to get directly involved in protecting the environment and leave a cleaner county to future generations, conserving natural resources, reducing air and water pollution, saving energy and creating new jobs." - said Daniela Pop, representative of CNREE.

The educational campaign „Pe locuri, Fiți gata, DEEE– involvement of children and educational institutions

A novelty of this edition is the campaign dedicated to kindergartens and schools from Maramureș County. Children will be able to bring old electrical and electronic equipment to educational institutions enrolled in the program. Through this initiative, the little ones will learn the importance of collecting and recycling waste and will be rewarded with attractive prizes for their involvement: smartwatches and backpacks, offered upon handing over a cumulative quantity of at least 5 kg of WEEE. Students can also participate in a creative test (essay or drawing, depending on age), on the topic of recycling and environmental protection and will receive prizes such as: colored pencils/markers, balls, t-shirts or caps.

A community-supported initiative

The two campaigns initiated by CNREE in collaboration with AcoR Maramureș will include both collection activities and educational actions, through which the residents of Maramureș county will learn more about the benefits of recycling and the negative impact of electronic waste on the environment.

This initiative complements the efforts of local authorities in Maramureș to develop sustainable solutions for waste management, in line with national and European objectives regarding environmental protection.

The National Center for Electrical and Electronic Recycling (CNREE) launches the "Let's recycle WEEE!" campaign in partnership with the Association of Romanian Municipalities - Maramureș Branch (ACoR Maramureș), a large-scale project dedicated to the responsible collection and recycling of electrical and electronic waste. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the impact of this waste on the environment and encourage the active participation of local communities in protecting it.

A concrete solution for a cleaner environment

The "Let's Recycle!" campaign offers citizens the opportunity to get directly involved in the recycling process, thus contributing to a healthier and more sustainable environment. People who hand in used electrical equipment weighing at least 30 kg will be rewarded with attractive prizes, in recognition of their effort. Among the prizes offered are: irons, drills, air heaters, sandwich makers and many more.

"Recycling electrical and electronic equipment is an essential step towards a sustainable future. Through this campaign, we want to educate and involve as many people as possible in responsible waste management" - said Mădălina Dinu, representative of CNREE.

A broad approach, supported at the local level

The campaign will run from April 2 to 30 and will include collection actions for electrical and electronic waste in several localities in Maramureș. In addition to the collection activities, the event will include information sessions, educational workshops and awareness initiatives, aimed at highlighting the importance of recycling for environmental protection.

This initiative is supported by local authorities and is in line with national efforts to implement sustainable solutions in waste management. Recently, a delegation of 12 mayors from Maramureș paid a working visit to Iași County to learn best practice models regarding the establishment and operation of voluntary collection centers (CAV). These centers will facilitate the separate collection of household waste and special waste streams, playing an essential role in their efficient management.

Launch of the "Recycle and Be a Champion" campaign: Recycle and you can win unforgettable prizes!

Bucharest, October 1, 2024

Starting with October 1, 2024, the National Electrical and Electronics Recycling Center Association launches the national campaign „Reciclezi și ești Campion”, an initiative aimed at encouraging the recycling of used electrical and electronic equipment. As part of this campaign, participants not only contribute to protecting the environment, but also have the chance to win valuable prizes, including unique trips and an electric bike.

Recycle and collect points for great chances of winning

The campaign offers the opportunity to all Romanian citizens over the age of 18 to participate, by handing over old electrical and electronic equipment to authorized centers or through home collection. Depending on the type of equipment handed over, participants will receive points, and for each 150 points accumulated, they get a chance to enroll in the big draw.

The campaign prizes are:

  • Grand Prize: explore biodiversity in pairs Kenya;
  • Special Prize: expedition for two people to North Cape;
  • Electric Mobility Award: electric bicycle.

The campaign is taking place in the territory of Bucharest Municipality and Ilfov County and will end on November 30, 2024.

WeArEco.ro – now just a click away

On Sunday, September 17, in Mihai I Park (Herăstrău), we had the pleasure of officially launching the WEARECO recycling application, an initiative of the CNREE Association, in an event that brought together many Bucharest residents of all ages. The launch of the application represented a moment of joy and commitment to protecting the environment in the Capital and beyond. In perspective the C.N.R.E.E. Association intends to expand the use of the application at the national level depending on the interest shown by the partners.

With a growing number of people aware of the importance of recycling and conserving the environment, we were delighted to see how much interest there is in this vital cause. Most of the participants in the event confirmed that they make constant efforts to recycle and emphasized the importance of this gesture in terms of the health of our planet.

At the same time, we also listened carefully to the opinion of those who have not yet been involved in the recycling process. Some mentioned that they perceive the recycling process as complicated, while others noted that there is a lack of accessible collection points for used items. 

We are pleased to present our innovative solution, WEARECO.ro, a state-of-the-art, user-friendly application that simplifies the recycling process for all residents. With just a few clicks, users can request that our team pick up used equipment such as televisions, washing machines, refrigerators and more, thus contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable environment.

The National Electric and Electronic Recycling Center Association, together with Mega Mall Bucharest and Rematholding - celebrate World Environment Day through an information, education and awareness action for the general public, aimed at providing information about the collection and recycling of used electrical and household appliances and became waste.


The action "Let's go Eco at Mega Mall!" takes place on June 5, between 10:00 and 22:00, in the Mega Mall, level 2, main entrance.


The general public will be able to admire an exhibition of vintage electrical equipment and household appliances, in a green setting, built of ornamental plants and flowers. In the space dedicated to the exhibition, the volunteers of the CNREE Association will provide all interested persons with information on sustainability, ecology and the recycling of WEEE waste.


"Every responsible gesture matters enormously, in a world where waste has become a difficult phenomenon to control, with major consequences for our health and that of future generations. We want to inform citizens and support them logistically in the recycling process of electrical waste and used household appliances. National Campaign HAIDEEE să fim ECO!

The National Electric and Electronic Recycling Center Association started the national campaign for the collection of electrical and electronic waste, with the support of over 20 participating town halls.

The collection campaign "Haideee să fim ECO" aims to increase the level of information and awareness of the population regarding the importance of the selective collection of electrical waste in order to recycle it, as well as to increase the amount of waste collected from the population in order to meet the objectives set by GEO no. 5/2015.

The pilot project takes place between February 14 and April 12, 2023 and is organized in several localities that have shown interest in organizing collection actions during the campaign. The list of participating communities remains open, the invitation to participate in the campaign addressed to mayors and local councils remains open.

Natural persons resident in Romania, with a minimum age of 18 years on the date of enrollment in the Campaign and who are domiciled within the locality participating in the Campaign, can participate in the campaign.

In the campaign, the bonuses offered in exchange for handing in waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) consist of prizes. The ultimate goal is to motivate citizens to be actively involved in keeping the environment clean, the most important thing they can do is selective collection, especially keeping electrical and electronic waste away from landfills and re-introducing it into the circular economy, by handing them over to organizations authorized to collect WEEE and partners.

RECIclădim viitorul – Educație ecologică în școli cu Nicolae al României 

București, 23 noiembrie 2022 

Centrul Național de Reciclare Electrice și Electronice, împreună cu Asociația Principele Nicolae au dat astăzi startul la liceul Nicolae Iorga din București campaniei naționale de educație ecologică în școli, “RECIclădim viitorul”. 

Proiectul, care va avea loc pe durata unui an, vizează desfășurarea de lecții deschise, educative, cu tematica reciclării, reutilizării și protejării mediului înconjurător, cu accent pe implicarea și participarea elevilor prin exemplul propriu. Beneficiind de implicarea Principelui Nicolae, reprezentanții Asociației Centrul Național de Reciclare Electrice și Electronice, vor organiza prezentări, concursuri, sesiuni de dialog cu elevii, prin care vor sprijini dezvoltarea unei abordări eco-responsabile în școli și promovarea unei mentalități ecologice în rândul elevilor și cadrelor didactice. Aceștia vor fi informați despre modalități corecte prin care pot recicla, modalitățile de reutilizare și reparare a produselor electrice și electronice uzate, tehnicile prin care pot diminua poluarea sau cum pot lua parte la acțiuni de împădurire.  

The aim of the project is to emphasize the role of the school in environmental education, because children and young people spend a large part of their time here and because it is the place where knowledge is transmitted that aims to develop the positive attitude of students towards environmental subjects surrounding.
